How would you describe your field and main tasks?
I work in Strategy & Operations within Ramboll Management Consulting, in which we serve private and public clients both nationally and internationally. As part of the global Ramboll Group, we often build upon unique industry expertise to advise executive managers within our selected industries, such as Energy, Buildings, Transport, Environment & Health and Water.
My job covers both strategy development and business transformation, however, most often entails:
1. Corporate and business unit strategies
2. Growth strategies / Go-to-market strategies
3. Market studies
4. Strategy implementation
On my current project, we are working as advisors for a large international client currently in a M&A process. We are conducting a commercial and organisational due diligence. As part of the commercial due diligence we are helping our client evaluate the feasibility of the target company’s business plan seen in relation to projected market conditions, industry dynamics and the competitive environment.
An important part of the organisational due diligence has been to assess the strategic and cultural fit between our client
and the target company, identifying potential deal breakers and key risks as well as creating the future organisational blue print for the combined entity.
What are the most exciting and challenging parts of your job?
Often I find that these two elements are very closely tied together, as the most exciting job tasks often also are the most challenging. Trying to help clients solve their most complex problems is always a very difficult and challenging task, but when you realise that you, even as a young consultant, are able to provide value to these clients, it is very rewarding.
As a management consultant you need to have the desire to explore new types of projects and industries and being put to the test very early in your professional career. The benefits you get from being challenged and trying new things are
both professional and personal development – that’s what makes my job so interesting and exciting.
How do you use your education in your position?
Through my studies I gained knowledge and insight within a wide range of areas such as strategy, finance and accounting, which all are areas that I work with in my current projects. The basic commercial understanding and numerical ability gained from having worked with these areas as well as the ability to simultaneously balance different topics is something that I use and continue to develop every day as a management consultant.
What are the three most important things for you in your job at Ramboll?
1. Being able to learn from and work with talented people
2. Being put in situations where I am challenged both professionally and personally
3. Good colleagues that offer a helping hand when needed
Why is Ramboll an attractive company for you?
Ramboll Management Consulting is part of an international organisation with a large commitment to creating sustainable solutions for both companies and society as a whole. Being able to work for a company with such a clear vision while still being able to explore commercial aspects and continuously build new professional competences in the business world makes Ramboll a very attractive place for me.
